Synced Playback: How It Actually Works
A short explainer on how watch parties keep everyone on the same frame, even when networks misbehave.
One source of truth
The host's player is the timeline everyone tracks. When the host plays, pauses, or seeks, that event is broadcast to viewers immediately.
Drift correction
Networks aren't perfect. Viewers periodically check their position against the host's and nudge themselves into alignment when they fall behind or jump ahead.
Why peer-to-peer helps
Direct connections cut latency. Lower latency means smaller corrections and a smoother feel.
